en Dunlop is a Sport and Performance Psychologist at SD Wellness in Red Deer, Alberta, specializing in mental performance training and psychological support for athletes and high performers. Drawing on both his personal and professional experience in competitive sport, Ben brings a deep understanding of the mental demands athletes face at all levels—from elite junior leagues to collegiate athletics.
Ben has worked with athletes across a broad range of competitive environments, including the Western Hockey League (WHL), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), U SPORTS, British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), Red Deer Lacrosse Association (RDLA), Red Deer Minor Hockey (RDMH), Baseball Alberta Provincial League (BAPL), and Ringette Alberta. Ben is also a member of the American Psychological Association Society for Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology. His approach is informed not only by formal training but also by firsthand experience as a former elite athlete and current parent of two young athletes. This dual perspective gives him unique insight into the emotional and psychological challenges athletes face—both on the field and at home.
Having spent years immersed in athletics, Ben understands that performance isn’t just physical—it’s deeply psychological. He sees competition anxiety, burnout, dips in motivation, and the pressures of expectations as common yet addressable aspects of the athlete experience. His work focuses on building mental resilience, improving focus and confidence, managing stress, and fostering a healthy identity beyond sport.

My name is Jamie, and I am the owner and founder of SD Wellness. Although I am just beginning the journey, my dream is to create a space where care goes beyond the basics, and where every treatment plan is as unique as the individuals walking through the doors. Thus, SD Wellness was born - a sanctuary of healing, driven by a holistic and patient-first approach.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary, a PhD in Cognitive Development from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Post Masters Certificate in Counselling from Athabasca University.
I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. I also teach psychology at Red Deer Polytechnic.
I am a mother of two amazing and busy boys and a beautiful golden retriever. I was born and raised in Red Deer and my husband and I call Red Deer home. My interests and passion stem from my experience working at the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre and experiencing birth trauma in different ways with both of my boys.
I have 9 years of experience in the field and specialize in perinatal mental health, internal family systems, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed cognitive behavioural therapy. I work with individuals, especially mothers and those who have experienced trauma, families, and couples.
With a combination of my personal and professional experience, I hope to instill an atmosphere of authenticity and unconditional positive regard.
Therapy with me begins with a breaking down of the myths associated with counselling and creating a realistic path for movement forward. I am honoured to be a part of your journey in any way.
I look forward to healing with you soon!
